Background Paper: Current Status of Transport Projects in the CDM

Very few CDM projects on sustainable transport have been implemented to date. This is largely due to the fact that there are only two approved methodologies available for use in establishing the baseline and for monitoring activities. While eleven new methodologies have been submitted to the CDM Executive Board (EB), none have been approved as yet. This paper looks at those methodologies. Methodology design in projects conducted in the public sector is also causing difficulties. The authors conclude, however, that most of the barriers identified can be overcome.
